In today’s digital landscape, where online presence can make or break a business, having a website is just the starting point. A static website that only lists your services, products, or contact information is like a business card—it’s useful, but it doesn’t engage your audience or build a relationship with them. This is where a blog section comes into play. Here are compelling reasons why your website must have a blog section:

1.  Help Your Website to Generate Lot of Organic Traffic

Blogging can be a game-changer for your website’s traffic. If you have a blog on your business website and you keep adding new content, more potential customers will find you. People can also easily share your blog posts with others, which spreads the word about your business even more. In fact, companies with blogs get way more links from other websites, according to Hubspot. I’ve even seen companies get millions of visitors every month just by regularly posting articles on their website! See why having a blog is so important?

But just having a blog isn’t enough. Your articles/blog posts need to be good to keep people interested. If you write blog posts that are interesting, well-written and help people find what they’re looking for online, your website is more likely to show up in search results. This means more people will see your website and visit it.

By writing helpful articles about what your customers care about, you’ll attract new visitors to your website. When you answer their questions and talk about things they’re interested in, they’re more likely to look around your website and learn more about your business. Businesses that have a blog receive 126% more links to their website from other online sources, according to Hubspot.

2.  Help You To Establish Credibility of Your Business

If you want to establish yourself as a trusted source in your industry, it’s important to provide your audience with helpful and informative content through your blog. By doing so, you can demonstrate that your business is more than just a provider of products or services, but that you also care about offering useful insights and knowledge to your customers.

Let me give you an example –  imagine you run a Family law firm. Where you deal with issues such as divorce, child support, custody disputes, paternity cases, and more. When you start publishing blog posts that address common family legal issues, offering practical tips on handling legal matters, and breaking down complex laws into easy-to-understand language, you can position yourself as a trusted authority in your field. People will find your blog when they search for these topics online. About 47% of buyers tend to view at least 3 to 5 pieces of content before engaging with a sales representative. This statistic highlights the importance of having the right content available to showcase your credibility and increase your chances of making a sale. So, investing time and effort into creating quality blog posts can significantly impact your business’s success.

3.  Help You to Start Conversation with Potential Customer

Having a blog section on your business website is an excellent tool to connect with your audience on a more personal level. Blogging as a company creates an opportunity to start a conversation and engage with your customers in a way that is not possible through traditional marketing channels.

One important part of many blogs is the comments section. This lets people who read your blog give their opinions and ask questions. You can answer their questions using what you know, and you can also ask them questions to better understand their needs. This way, you can find out what they need and come up with solutions that work best for them. By talking back and forth, you can learn a lot and even get new ideas for your business.

4.  Aware Customer and provide them enough knowledge about your product & service which help them to take buying decision

The more positive experiences users have with your published content, the more positive associations they’ll begin to develop with your brand as a whole. Building brand awareness doesn’t need to be direct advertising. Instead of pushing ads, focus on building relationships. When people like what you write, they see you and your brand positively. That’s brand awareness!

For example, if you own a business and have a website without a blog section, you might start thinking about adding one. You could even consider meeting with me for taking help to add a blog section in your existing website.

The goal is to create valuable and helpful content that teaches your readers something new. The more they learn from your website, the more they will trust you. And people tend to buy from those they trust, right?

5.  Improve search engine result

When you write a blog post and share it on social media, you might get some initial traffic. But after that, the visits usually slow down. Does that mean it’s over? Not at all!

Once your blog post is online, it gets ranked by search engines. Even after the initial excitement fades, people can still find and read your post through search engines. This means old blog posts can keep bringing in visitors, giving you a good return on the time you spent writing them or the money you spent hiring a writer. read my other article where I discuss how to rank your article in search engines quickly.

For example, let’s say you are a divorce mediator. You write a blog post about the benefits of mediation over going to court. At first, your regular clients and social media followers read it. But months later, someone searching for divorce mediation tips on Google might find your post and visit your website. They might even decide to hire you or recommend your services to a friend.

So, adding a blog to your small business website is a smart move. It’s cheap, and it saves you money on paid ads. If your articles rank at the top of Google, your website will get a good amount of traffic every month. Getting that same amount of traffic with paid ads would cost a lot of money.

6.  Collect leads of potential customers

If people like your content, they’ll want more of it. Getting them to subscribe to your email list is a great way to find new leads. This method is less intrusive than asking them to sign up for an email list to get a coupon.

Blogs help build a connection before asking for their information. If they read your content, they already like it and want to learn more. This builds a relationship with your brand through unique and helpful content.

You can add a subscription pop-up at the end of the blog or when they scroll. This way, they can easily enter their information and keep reading.

7.  Help you to do marketing & Generate sales

Starting a blog on your business website helps with marketing and generating leads. You can share blog content on social media to attract visitors and boost brand awareness. Additionally, using blog posts in email marketing enhances your newsletters and promotions, building trust with your audience and encouraging new subscribers. This approach promotes both your blog and your business effectively.

So, What Type of Content Goes on a Blog?

First, You Should Maintain Your Brand Voice

If your company has a unique way of talking or a specific viewpoint, use your blog to show it off! Blogs help make your brand feel more personal. Big companies often seem impersonal, but a blog can show there are real people behind the scenes.

Secondly, Write about what your audience wants to read

Write blog posts that are helpful for your audience. If your business is selling a product or service, you’ll definitely find opportunities to write blog posts around best practices or how-to’s that directly relate to that product or service. But, don’t be afraid to have a little fun and stretch your content outside of your normal business-specific realm. You know your audience better than anyone, so find and blog about other topics that they may be interested in. For example, if you are in real estate, your audience may consist of first-time home buyers and you can blog about helpful DIY’s that could come in handy.

And third,  Add relevant Images, Audio and Videos:

Use the images, podcasts, and videos you’ve created. They make your blog more interesting and show your passion. You can easily add YouTube or podcast links, or upload images and videos directly. Write an article of at least 300 words for SEO, though 700 – 1000 words is even better.

Starting a blog is easy and can be a great way to market your business. Anyone in your company can contribute ideas and write about what they know best.
